Coal fish (Pollachius Virens)

Appearance: The Coal fish has an underhung jaw, and little or no bear thread. The lateral line is pale, and almost straight. Body colour is brownish-green dorsally, becoming only slightly paler ventrally.
Length max: Up to ca. 120 - 130 cm
Weight max: Maximum around ca. 30 kgNormal 0,5kg - 10kg

Coal fish is a shoal fish, which eats spawn and small crustaceans. It is a pelagic fish, as well as a fish that lives on the bottom of the sea, 0-300 metres deep. The spawn occurs at the coast from Lofoten (Norway) and southwards, and partly in the North Sea.
