Mackerel is a pelagic, rapidly swimming fish, which swim in huge schools near the surface. The Mackerel live primarily on small Cod and Herring. During late spring and early summer the Mackerel spawn in open water at the west and south-west part of Ireland. In Norway, Russia, France, Spain and Poland are mackerel fishing a major industry.
